Former Bellator heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov (24-4) takes on Tony Johnson (8-2) at Bellator 136 on Friday at the Bren Events Center in Irvine, Calif. He expects an exciting fight.

Johnson’s wrestling and size are the only things Volkov thinks his opponent has that could give him trouble in the fight.
“He’s a big, mighty wrestler. That’s the only threat that he could possibly have for me in this brawl. I’m in wonderful shape. I had a very wonderful training camp,” he said. “It’s going to be a good, exciting battle and I glance forward to it.”
The bout with Johnson will be Volkov’s third fight in five months. The 26-year-old likes to stay active.
“I fancy to fight often. I never assist down from an opponent or taking a fight. I like to reside active because it keeps me in shape physically and mentally and gives me a chance to make money,” he said.

Two former heavyweight champions headlined UFC Fight Night 127 on Saturday at the O2 Arena in London, England. Former Bellator titleholder Alexander Volkov remained unbeaten inside the octagon by finishing former UFC champion Fabricio Werdum in the fourth round.
Werdum rushed across the cage at the sound of the opening bell and quickly changed levels to position Volkov on his back. He delivered right hands but did little damage. Volkov scrambled to his feet and unleashed a flurry of punches but was taken down by Werdum a second time late in the first frame.

Werdum stuck to his game plan of trying to get the fight to the ground in the second spherical . The takedowns weren't coming as easy in the second frame. Volkov shook off the first two attempts but was taken down midway through the orbicular. Werdum softened Volkov up with punches and elbows opening up a cut along the Russian's hairline.
The momentum of the bout began to change in the third round. Volkov landed a combination that opened up a laceration under Werdum's right eye. Werdum continued to look for takedowns but was taking harm in his attempts.
The end came in the fourth round. Wer
Alexander Volkov was stacked with the unenviable task of fighting 7-foot giant Stefan Struve before a partisan crowd in Struve’s native Holland, practically as an afterthought given that he was doing so one week after the battle world blew its wad with McGregor-Mayweather. Things didn’t look good early. He took a violent knee to the face in the first round, which opened up a bloody fissure where football players wear eye black. He had one eye poked in the second spherical , which caused the medic to come in and shine a light. Then he had the other poked moments later, giving him the unfortunate parlay. Luckily his ears worked well enough to notice referee Marc Goddard issue a warning to Struve, advising him to view his fingers.
In the third round, Volkov won the fight.
He hit Struve with a hard left then a right uppercut, and then unleashed everything he had. Struve — the only man to finish champion Stipe Miocic — crumpled on the fence, and just fancy that the UFC had some vital new blood in the heavyweight division. The 6-foot-7 Volkov has now won his first three fights in the UFC, including a rugged decision over Roy Nelson. He has won five in a row overall, going back to his days
