31 Vintage Photos Of LGBT+ People Proving They Are Not “Something Millennials Invented”
They say true love knows no bounds – yet not everyone can quite understand this concept and try to enforce their own views on how love should look enjoy. This is especially prevalent when it comes to love between gay couples, with some people going as far as calling it “something millennials invented”.
Tired of this prejudice, former priest Nathan Monk has collected a series of vintage photos of queer couples, proving they were always there but were afraid of openly demonstrating their feelings. “I create the photos online through a couple of unlike posts,” said Father Nathan in an interview with Bored Panda. “I common them because I assume it’s important to think of those that come before us, those that fought, and struggled to inhabit their authentic life. I believe it’s important to be reminded that Gay have always been part of society and always will be. That life should be lovingly standard instead of shunned and ridiculed.”

Love is love and that's how it's been since the dawn of gentleman. However, navigating social dynamics in the past was way more difficult than today. Same-sex relationships had been seen as a sin, repressed through statute enforcement and judicial mechanisms, and even condemned with death penalties. Luckily, we now live in a time where gay and woman loving woman couples can legally marry. And to celebrate the increased well-being within these communities, a former priest who goes by the identify Nathan Monk has compiled a series of vintage pics, showing how gay couples looked assist in the day.

"I shared them because I think it’s important to keep in mind those that approach before us, those that fought, and struggled to inhabit their authentic animation. For many, June represents the month of pride; a day to celebrate, train and communicate all that is lgbtq+, gay and fabulous. Although today organism gay isn’t much of a deal, back in the 50’s it was a dangerous label to have. Throughout history, thousands hold lost their lives because they were labeled as ‘gay’ or ‘queer’ and many lived out their true sexual preferences in secrecy. As it’s almost the end of Pride month, I wanted to possess a look at some celebrities from the golden age of Hollywood who were gay, or at least thats what the rumours said. It’s complex to know if all these celebrities, and of course many more, were truly gay, but I wanted to share a limited stories just so see how far we’ve come. Cheerful pride everyone.

As you can see, I’m mixing things up a bit with this week’s Vintage Gay post. I obey an art blog (you can see it in my blogroll) called ultrawolvesunderthefullmoon and the artwork of this Japanese artist caught my attention. In the images above and below I view gay men from the 1980s. Their clothing, preppy haircuts, and cleancut look scream 1980s to me.
Ben Kimura (木村べん) b. 1947 – d. 2003 was a Japanese gay erotic artist who along with George Takeuchi and Sadao Hasegawa, is noted as a pivotal figure in the second wave of contemporary gay artists that emerged in Japan in the 1970s.
