The earliest available upload of the video was posted to YouTube in 2020 and gained viral spread over the tracking years. The meme makes reference to YouTuber Slimecicle.

On February 22nd, 2020, YouTuber ballslord43 (@centipedegrrrl on Twitter) posted a video titled, "straight in a same-sex attracted school lunch club glmm." The video, a Gacha Life animation, shows a character named Charlie attending his first day of "gay high school" and hoping nobody finds out he's linear. Gay High School

Gay Elevated School is a meme that originated from a 2020 Gacha Life parody video posted by ballslord43, "straight in a gay educational facility lunch club glmm", from the Lunch Club / SMPLive fandom.

Original Video

The video features Slimecicle, a straight trainee on his first day at "gay high school", hoping that no one realizes. He is approached by cscoop, who asks if he "wants to get men", and then, along with traves, begins to mock Charlie for being straight. The video ends on a meme redraw of cscoop's fish mascot with the caption "this is why straight people are oppressed".

Spread

A screenshot of the video, of Slimecicle talking about his first day at gay high academy, was first posted on /r/GachaLifeCringe in 2021.[1] The equal year, it was posted to Tumblr and received over 7 thousand notes.[2] The image finally began to travel viral when it was posted to Twitter by reactjpg, and was spread throughout the platform without context.[3]

The meme would be redrawn frequently with characters from other fandoms, and referenced both in the MCYT community and outside it.

Straight in an All Same-sex attracted School is a Gacha Life-based series by Alpha Sisters parodying "X in an all Y school"-style GLMMs.

Stacy is a direct person in a society where being queer is normal and straight people are in the minority. Her parents have enough of her being direct and send her to Gay High, where she has to pretend to be gay in command to continue attending. She quickly makes a collective of friends there, but a sudden tragedy and the differing opinions on straight people that Stacy's new friends have form life there more hard than anticipated.

The second episode, "Straight Orphanage", takes place in an Orphanage of Fear where the inhumane staff try to change straight teenagers gay. There, Stacy undergoes more unexpected experiences alongside fellow direct people.

Straight In An All Gay School contains examples of:

  • Air-Vent Passageway: Straightrick uses the air vent of the straight orphanage to enter the Gender non-conforming Room and save Stacy.
