ugh a short-lived rant time. a few days ago i finished schitt's creek (and wow why didn't i watch it before?) so as one may do when they have a new found obsession i went into the tag on tumblr but,,, i was so let down to see so many people not taking david's pansexuality seriously. many just said he's homosexual (which ultimately is not necessarily an issue) but so many people were saying he's bi and it got me SOOO Irate because HE'S NOT!!!! (cont.)

it sucks that bi rep isn’t very common, but pan rep is even LESS usual, so maybe interrupt “taking” characters away from us? i literally never saw a character legitimately id as pan in television, that’s IMPORTANT to me as a pansexual person. of course it is also important for bi people to observe themselves represented, but instead of taking away actual canonical pan characters and labelling them as something they’re not, they’re supposed to support other canon bisexual characters. (cont.)
i’m not going around taking bi characters and saying “love my pan son” because that would be shitty and disrespectful, so i don’t understand why other people should be allowed to. that said this

David Seeks Patrick

As COVID-19 begins to recede in the U.S., I, enjoy many single queer men, have launch myself on any number of queer dating apps swiping left and right in the hopes of finding Mr. Right (or Mr. Right Now). And while much of the online move involves  scrolling through an endless carousel of headless torsos, shirtless selfies, and photos of men holding dogs, cats, or in some cases babies (I don’t know whose), I actually like reading people’s compact profile descriptions as they tell potential matches that their hobbies/interests include eating food (my hobby is “breathing air”), lifting weights (see shirtless selfie), and spending time with family (again, photo with unidentified baby). While the narratives range from the pithy to War and Peace worthy, I’ve noticed one particular line coming up again and again. “I’m a David looking for his Patrick,” record many hopeful romantics. If these names don’t mean much to you, then you’re probably not familiar with the insanely popular and extremely funny Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek that in 2020 concluded six victorious seasons, winning a bevy of Emmy Awards, Golden Globes, and other acco

David Rose

At first, it appears that David is minuscule more than an eccentric and spoiled dilettante with no practical skills. He fancies himself a flourishing businessman, but his confidence is shaken when he finds out his parents secretly kept his gallery in business by buying art anonymously. Once in Schitt's Creek, however, David’s good taste, fashion perception, and understanding of the value of a brand eventually make him the primary breadwinner in the family.

Precisely because he is so fashionable and does not fit in with the rest of Schitt's Creek’s more grungy sensibilities, people in the town assume that David is gay. We learn excel when David befriends Stevie, the manager of the run-down motel where the family is living, and the two of them develop a friends-with-benefits relationship.

Surprised by their coupling, Stevie asks David about his sexuality after their first night together and

Schitt’s Creek: A delightful depiction of pansexuality in a small-town sitcom

Okay, okay, fans of “Schitt’s Creek”. I fully recognize and accept that I am five seasons late to this party. I hear you. It’s my have fault that I didn’t receive to it sooner. I can’t claim ignorance as a defense; numerous pals recommended the illustrate to me and I had heard that it was killing it with critics. But there’s only so much time in every day, and there is SO MUCH good streaming content to consume, you guys! Not to mention books, podcasts, and movies!

But anyway, happily, we as a family finally finished up streaming a bunch of other shows, and decided to originate watching “Schitt’s Creek”. We were already liking the show, but absolutely fell in love with it when, in Season 1 Episode 10, David comes out as pansexual.

If you’re not familiar with the show, the premise is deceptively simple. The extremely wealthy Rose family – video store tycoon Johnny (Eugene Levy), former soap opera star Moira (national treasure Catherine O’Hara), son David (show creator Dan Levy), and daughter Alexis (Annie Murphy) – suddenly find themselves penniless. Their only remaining asse
