Marshall's Beach in San Francisco
With sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge and a laid-back atmosphere, Marshall's Beach in San Francisco is a beautiful attraction to explore. This tiny, hidden beach sits on the north end of San Francisco and just to the south and west of the bridge.
You will find this beauty inside the Presidio. It takes a little more effort to get to than most of our other beaches, which is why it’s a famous spot for nude sunbathers. It’s also popular with the gay community.
It’s the perfect place to expend an hour or two taking photos, escaping the chaos of the metropolis, or spending some day sunbathing in those areas that rarely see the sun.
What to Expect When You Visit Marshall's Beach
This secluded beach is one of the best spots to photograph the Golden Gate Bridge. It suggestions unobstructed views of the bridge from an angle that captures its correct beauty.
Steep cliffs surround it with large rocks all around the beach. Both will offer additional drama and depth to your photos.
The other reason it's a popular spot to take photos is because it doesn't get as much traffic as other beaches in San Francisco. This allows you to take pictures without wai
Summer Fun at Clothing Optional Beaches: Marshall, Little Muir, and Devil’s Slink Beach
By John Chen–
In the last issue of the San Francisco Bay Times (July 27, 2023, https://tinyurl.com/3ncpmrhs) I covered three picturesque Bay Area clothing optional beaches frequented by our fellow Homosexual sunbathers: San Gregorio, Laguna Creek, and South Rodeo Beach along with some important “before-you-go” advisories. In a continuing of my summer clothing optional beach series, I would like to present three additional gorgeous beaches: Marshall, Petite Muir, and Devil’s Slide.
Marshall Beach
Often lost with Baker Beach, an easily usable public clothing optional Presidio beach, Marshall is less noticeable and a predominately gay beach at the foot of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. What makes Marshall Beach so special is its up-close and spectacular view of the bridge, and golden sunsets. Many moons ago, Marshall Beach was a hidden gem, relatively unknown among tourists and sightseers. The local gay collective successfully kept it a secret partly because the lane down to the beach from sky-high above was unmarked, steep, slippery and somewhat treachero
Ten Pointers for a Gay Ole Time at Marshall’s Beach
With warmer weather approaching, talk of beach trips among your circle will surely float past you. In gay circles, it’s Marshall’s Beach. Perhaps you’ve never been to Marshall’s Beach. You heard about it from a friend, maybe you’ve wondered where gays maintain getting those up-close Golden Gate Bridge selfies. Maybe you just want to be nude on the beach with your friends in the sun. In any case, gay beach etiquette is inherited queer knowledge passed down from hoe to hoe, but I present it to you here.
In addition to your regular beach fare (sunscreen, towels, sunglasses, etc.), you should:
Poop first.
Gross! Skillfully trust me, you will praise yourself. Go even if you don’t have to go. There are no restrooms on Marshall’s Beach. The closest facilities are a rough mile hike down the shore above family-friendly Baker Beach. No matter what you plan to do with your butt at Marshall’s Beach, remove the chamber before you procure there. You don’t want to find yourself at the bottom of a cliff when last night’s dinner finally drops. On such a small strip of land there are no trees or cover of any nice, let alone anythi
Marshall's Beach

Our most classified beach...
Marshall's Beach is a hidden San Francisco beach with spectacular views. This beach is the closest one to the Golden Gate Bridge, but scant people make the trek down, or even know it's there.
The beach requires some effort to get to, however. The path down to the beach from the bluffs above is long; coming back up is a authentic workout! But it's worth it.
A lot of locals call it "Marshall Beach" but it is officially "Marshall's Beach".
